San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has announced that it is to stop the sale of plastic water bottles in the next few weeks.
Before the weekend, the airport released information on its new environmentally friendly plan, Zero Waste (external link here).
What is detailed is that from Tuesday 20th August, shops, restaurants and airport lounges will be stopped from selling or serving plastic bottles of water.
An alternative which will be available, will be for water purchased in bottles which are made from single and multi-use aluminium and glass.
SFO has also added about 100 hydration stations across all terminals, which will provide travellers with access to water for refilling their existing bottles.
